2013 Inspiring Teacher Award
The time has come again to recognize a special teacher for Canadian Parents for French – Saskatchewan’s (CPF-SK) annual Inspiring Teacher Award.
This award recognizes the hard work of a teacher at your school who goes above and beyond to promote French-second-language (FSL) education, not only inside classroom walls, but at school events, in the hallway, and elsewhere. This teacher encourages students to love the language and does so not out of necessity, but of out of their own affinity for the language. CPF-SK’s provincial award is one way that colleagues, administrators, and even students can honour hard-working teachers with a passion for FSL.
For a copy of the nomination form, please email cpfsask@sasktel.net.
Completed forms must be submitted by Friday, June 14, 2013. The honour will be awarded to the winning teacher at the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.
Mary Joyce Booth Memorial Scholarship
Canadian Parents for French – Saskatchewan would like to formally present the Mary Joyce Booth Memorial Scholarship.
Up to two scholarships of $1,500 are available for French Second Language (FSL) students entering their first year of a post-secondary program in the French language.
Application Deadline: May 1, 2013
Dr. Mary Joyce Booth was a devoted and enthusiastic teacher, well known in Canadian Parents for French (CPF) circles for many years before her death on March 22, 2007. She was passionate about promoting French-Second-Language (FSL) education. As a professor of French in the College of Education, Department of Curriculum Studies, at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, she endlessly supported opportunities for young FSL students. She also provided moral, professional, personal and financial assistance to all levels of CPF over the years. Her interest in FSL initiatives started early in life; her passion for language issues lasted throughout her life. This award bears witness to this interest and passion.
